Relamping system: what is it and what are the advantages

What is relamping

Relamping represents an innovation from an energy, functional and savings point of view. It literally means "replacement", in fact it is the replacement of traditional lighting bodies, such as halogen, incandescent or fluorescent lamps, with modern LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamps.

How relamping works

To improve energy efficiency, the first step is to replace the old lighting systems and traditional lamps with smart lighting systems and LED lamps. Thanks to its versatility, it is possible to replace them both in the domestic setting, by changing your home lamps, and in the workplace, in offices, restaurants and warehouses. Furthermore, with a view towards the smart city, it is also possible to replace the light poles with LED technology.

After all, the costs of lighting in every area are considerable, and it is precisely by taking advantage of new technologies that costs can be reduced considerably.

Furthermore, relamping is not limited to the simple replacement of these lamps, but there is a study and design work behind it, to ensure the highest quality of light, as well as safety and comfort.

Just think that according to Confindustria estimates, the energy needs for lighting in an industry cover about 15% of total electricity consumption, while the percentage is close to 50% in offices and almost 80% in warehouses.

Having the possibility to reduce these costs is therefore essential.

Types of relamping

Going more into the specifications, we can then divide the relamping into two types: one simpler and another more complex.

In the case of plug & play led relamping, it is sufficient to replace traditional lamps with LED lamps that share the same type of socket. Clearly being a more immediate and easier intervention, which does not involve any type of structural intervention, it will have lower costs.

The second type, on the other hand, is used when, to improve performance and brightness, it is necessary to completely replace the lighting system, also redesigning the arrangement of the light sources and points of light in a given setting.

The advantages of relamping

First of all the advantages of relamping, we find energy savings, which can even reach 60-80%. All this allows a reduction in operating and maintenance costs, given the low consumption and high durability, which are absolutely not to be underestimated.

Another advantage is the piloting, that is the possibility to control brightness and temperature even remotely. In this way, only the lights that are strictly necessary will turn on, only when and where they are really needed. All this leads to an improvement in the levels of brightness, safety and visual comfort.

Through the installation of LEDs there is also greater reliability and durability, the LED lamps are in fact designed to guarantee a duration of 50,000 hours compared to the 2,000 hour life cycle of halogen lamps.

The phenomenon of incandescence must also be evaluated, in fact LED light is cold, so it does not overheat the setting. This also allows businesses to save on cooling in the summer months.

Another aspect to consider is the environmental impact. In fact, LED lamps allow a reduction in the environmental impact, since they are non-toxic and do not contain mercury. Furthermore, with less heat dispersion than traditional lamps, less carbon dioxide will be produced, limiting thermal dispersion into the environment.

Last but not least, we find the possibility of obtaining incentives for energy efficiency, through white certificates or thermal accounts.
