Peter Bysted is an architect and designer, and graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1978. Three years earlier, in a competition curated by Louis Poulsen relating to the lighting of the neighborhoods to be preserved, he won the second prize with the "Bysted", a bollard made from corten steel, confirming his interest in lighting design ever since. As a student he was also very interested in graphics and the union of these two sectors would later characterize his design - and the communication company Bysted A/S, founded in 1978 in Copenhagen.
